We are excited about what has happened during the past two years, as we worked with your children under the Title V grant for healthy choices.
On behalf of the Mount Olives Church of God (MOC) abstinence education program, “From the Start”, we write to reintroduce our mentoring program/after-school club taking place in the church’s annex/administrative building for youth ages 10-14. The purpose of this mentoring program is to develop in every child a sense of responsibility, self-respect, discipline, and healthy decision making—tools that will equip them for success both personally and academically. The mentoring program/afterschool club is free of charge.
“From the Start” is a federally-funded abstinence education program, sponsored and supported by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, and approved by the Orange Township Board of Education to be in all Orange Public Schools with 6th and 7th grade students. The program is also in Newark and East Orange, providing strong, empowering messages about delaying sexual activity until marriage. Our youth should be encouraged to excellence in all types of environments that promote character-building and decision-making—hence the need for stepping beyond school doors and school hours to have the mentoring program/after-school club.
As the program director of “From the Start”, I am excited at the chance we have to turn communities around. Please view the attached detailed descriptions and application, and return to your community site, MOC church staff or your child’s school main office. Also, please feel free to call (973) 678-4920 ext. 12 or (973) 518-2181 for more information.
